REEL NOT INCLUDED!
UNIQUE TRAVEL FLY ROD: 7 piece, 5 weight.
Rod BLANK Details: Rainshadow F905-7M, Series : RX6 Fly, Item Length (in) : 9'0", Number of Pieces : 7, Rod Blank Color : Matte Gray, Action : Mod-Fast, Material : RX6 Graphite, Line Rating (lbs.) : 5wt., Weight (oz.) : 1.76oz.
I used black and white thread. The white is subtle and goes very well with dark blank. I put some silver/multicolored, decorative, cross wraps on the but section of the rod. I added alignment dots to help when putting the rod together.
One of my most enjoyable activities when hand crafting or making a rod is turning the handle and reel seat. I cut and glued the mahogany and maple wood in a checkered pattern then turned them myself. They are covered in multiple coats of lacquer.
The case is one of the most unique I have ever created. I usually complete my cases in a hexagon, but this time after the hex glue up, I put the case on my lathe and turned it round. The end caps are ash and the handle is maple. I think it turned out beautiful.
I want to be as transparent as possible. Below is the cost of what I have into the rod build, so I hope you agree the overall cost is reasonable.
WHAT I HAVE FOR COST IN THE ROD/UP FRONT PRICING:
-Blank & Sock $107.99
-Guides, winding check, hook keeper, and tip top $37.07
-Reel seat hardware $15.95
-Wood for handle and reel seat $25 (estimated)
-Wood for walnut/maple/ash case $55 (estimated)
Thanks for looking, Tim
