This is a UNIQUE, handcrafted, SPIN/FLY rod (REELS NOT INCLUDED). You might remember Fenwick sold a SPIN/FLY some years ago. I made this rod with that in mind. I had a request for a custom spin/fly and liked the idea so a created a lesser expensive one for this site. Shorter than the Fenwick at 6.9" feet long. It casts well with a 4 weight fly line and handles small spin tackle and 2-6 pound test. This is a great rod for those who hike or backpack to unknown waters and may need the flexibility.
I hand built the case, handle and reel seat out of oak and Pau rosa (darker color in the photos). If you look closely at the handle and reel seat you will see they were made cutting multiple segments and alternated prior to gluing and turning. Simply beautiful and functional.
I sewed the rod sock out of linen and it is included.
I can remove the label and provide a custom decal for the rod including names and dates if interested.
